Greg Holt also committed as a junior, actually before his junior year of ball. Lassiter at West Forsyth has also committed to unc before playing his junior year of ball.

I find all this a little strange. With kids commiting this early it tells me you have to train your butt off as a freshman and sophomore. I know this doesn't apply to all kids but to commit before you play your last two years of HS is odd to me.

In the case of Holt, I know unc wasn't by themselves. NCSU, clemson and usc all wanted him.

 

and there you go. That's the main reason for the early bird commitments. Except for the players that are committing to their lifelong dream school, I do not recommend for anybody to commit that early.
