The Megastars travelled to Dobson, NC to play Surry Community College and they played a double header (7 innings each game) in great baseball weather today. Here are some of the highlights of the Megastars players:

    Game 1: Surry CC 4 - Megastars 3

    Starting Pitcher: Patrick McNair - 5 IP, 4 R (2 ER), LP
    Relief Pitcher: Jordan Cudney - 2 IP, 0 R, 2 K

    Hitting hi-lites:
    Taylor Patterson 1B, RBI, R
Scott Shields 1B, 2 BB, SB, RBI
    Jordan Cudney 1B, BB, R
    Andrew Hofstetler 1B, BB, R

    Game 2: Megastars 4 - Surry CC 4

    Starting Pitcher: Drew Wallace - 5 IP, 3 R (2 ER)
    Relief Pitcher #1: Jordan Cudney - 1 IP, 0 R, 3 K
    Relief Pitcher #2: Keith Mauney - 1 IP, 1 R, 1 K

    Hitting hi-lites:
Keith Mauney 1B, 2 SB, RBI
    Sumner Patterson 1B, 2 BB, R
Scott Matthews 1B, 2 BB, SB, RBI
Scott Shields 2 BB, SACF, SB, RBI, R

The Megastars almost pulled off the second game victory, but with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th a Surry batter hit a solo homerun. At the end of the inning both teams agreed to end it in a tie.

Overall, the Megastars put in a solid performance while playing a very good and highly ranked junior college team.

The Copperhead 18's also played surry two weeks ago and had two very good games. They won the first game 4-1 and got beat the second game 5-3. They played Wingate's JV last week and won 9-3 and tied 2-2. Very good outings both weekends.
