What do you think of sending top asst. coach out to recruit and miss a mid-week non-conf. game?

    calling no names.

happens a lot. I see top assistants at a lot of HS games, while the team is playing

they are most likely looking at someone specific and are either about to offer or have offered and want the kid to sign/commit.

    Great

At least this way they may also see someone off the radar. Someone who can not afford summer ball. If a kid gets noticed great that is what they get paid to do.

IMO: It means that they are having a horrible season, and have given up on their current players and looking for a lot of replacments. I am a college assitant and would never miss a game to go see a recruit, I believe it is disrespectful to the players in your program, and would really keep this in mind when/if getting recruited by this program/coach. Missing practice to recruit is ok, missing a game is wrong. IMO

That's why you are more likely to see a coach at a game on a Monday or Thursday... these are usually off days for the college teams when it comes to games.

    Between the lines

Sorry getting old. Yes Carolina looks for players always. Remember being infront makes everyone look back.

Yeah, I didn't want to get into a pissing match of right or wrong, but the assistants I saw were from top rank teams or at least major D1's. I've noticed this for 8 years. Actually, I thought it was strange, too. But, after seeing it for so long, I chalked it up to aggressive recruiting. It's done in basketball----why would baseball be any different.
