When does a player need to be released from a team? My DD plays with Sudden Impact 18U (Lynchburg Va.) and we were DQ today in the Championship game, because we have a player who was placed on another teams roster this year. She never signed the roster, nor did her parents. She did play with the team last year, but has not played with them this season.
We only lose one game and that was to the HeartBreakers PA. Our girls out scored their opponents 61-18 in 8 games. It was pretty rough to tell them we had been DQ,ed just minutes before the Championship game.

    Roster issues

The way the rule reads is pretty defining. Once a roster is created, it is not locked until participation in championship play. When a team competes in any type qualifier, ie, ASA State, Nat. Qualifier, Regional Qualifier, ect., all the players on that roster submitted, are locked to that roster. The player cannot compete in any ASA National tournament with any other team unless the team that she was rostered with chooses not participate in an ASA National. Only then, can she play with another team-and then only as a "pick up" player with the proper documentation. ASA does not have a player release per say the way NSA or some of the other sanctioning bodies do. Once rostered for championship play, you are bound to that roster till after the ASA Nationals are completed.
    Hope this helps

I don't know enough detals about championship or national tournaments that her previous team has played in this year or last. Just know it was not a good way to end a great tournament for our girls. I did watch the Cardinals play a couple of games this weekend and you guys can play. Thanks for the info, Good luck the rest of the year.
