    Cary over Clayton

    Clayton 5
    Cary 6

    Good Game !!!

Clayton scored a run in the top of 2nd, 2 walks, a wild pitch, and a balk. Clayton then scored 3 in the 3rd, and lead 4-0. But Cary came back with 2 in the bottom of the 3rd via a 2-run HR by Drew Woodall.

Cary was always behind in this game, always trying to score a run via bunting the runner to 2nd, but failed way more times than they succeeded, probably 2 for 6 attempts, and neither successful bunt resulted in a run.

The game was 5-4 after 6 innings (Cary had a solo HR by Will Smith). Clayton had a chance to add some insurance runs in the 8th - 1st and 3rd with 1 out - but tried a trick early steal of home, and ended up seeing both runners tagged out running the bases.

Cary won the game in the bottom of the 9th, a leadoff infield chopper and a wild throw had Woodall at 2nd. After an out, wild pitch and walk, Cary had runners at 1st and 3rd with 1 out. A past ball scored Woodall from 3rd, and while Clayton argued the call, the runner from 1st (Brian Rhino) went all the way to 3rd. Clayton intentionally loaded the bases, and Chris Perry hit a walk off single to end the game.

Cary leads seris 1-0, next game tomorrow at Clayton (I believe Clayton HS)

Game 1 Raleigh Post 297 at Durham Post 7

    Raleigh Post 297 6
    Durham Post 7 7

The long balls were flying out of the park in Durham.

HR's Raleigh -- Max Gagnon solo shot and Aikeem Hood 2 run shsot.

    HR's Durham -- I lost count, 4-5 maybe.

Durham led 1-0, Raleigh took the lead 3-1, Durham garbs the lead 7-3. In the top of the ninth Charles Wolfe's 2 run double closes the gap to 7-6. Final out came on a questional called third strike on a 3-2 count.

Next game tomorrow night at Millbrook HS at 7:00 p.m.

    Wilson 7, Kinston 6

Wilson scored 5 in the first off Kinston ace Carter Capps and led 7-2 entering the 9th before holding on to claim the series opener. Kinston left the bases loaded.

Justin Nygard picked up the win, his sixth straight (6-2), while Wilson won its 7th straight game to improve to 12-8. Game two, originally slated for Fike High School on Tuesday, will be in Wilson's usual homefield, Fleming Stadium.

Durham vs. N. Raleigh best of 5

    7/6 Game 1: Durham 7, N. Raleigh 6
    7/7 Game 2: Durham 4, N. Raleigh 3
    7/8 Game 3: at Riverside 7pm
7/9 Game 4: if necessary at Millbrook 7pm
7/10 Game 5: if necessary at Riverside 7pm

Game 1: Ball was flying out of the park tonight for both sides. Durham took a 7-3 lead into the top of the 9th, and as with every closer, he had to make it interesting. Tying run was stranded at 3rd when for some unknown reason the strikezone changed on a 3-2, 2 out pitch. Game 2 tomorrow at Millbrook at 7pm.

The strikezone was about the size of a dixie cup all night- which is why so many homeruns were hit (in my opinion)- pitchers had to set the ball on a tee to get a called strike. The last strike was a slider which came in about 6 inches off the ground when it crossed the plate. The batter started towards first, and the next thing I heard was 'strike 3'.
