Game 1 Sunday night Lexington 5 ER 2 Lexington leads 1-0

Andrew Morton went the distance & remained undefeated on the season, tossing a 6 hitter. 1 double, 2 walks, 1 hit batter, 6 K's. Only one run was earned.

Josh Bush had 3 big hits & Daniel Kassouf hit a bomb.

Somebody explain to me why Morton doesn't have every small college sitting on his doorstep: Lefty...bulldog competitor who wants the ball...wicked curve & changeup...4.4 GPA in high school...Super Duper kid with high morals & a church goer. I just don't get it. He needs major $$ help, but somebody ought to be willing & able to make this happen.

Most your small colleges dont have Athletic money . He needs to work on his academic money. There is plenty out there.
Junior College might be his way to go for a year or 2.
Someone up that way needs to find out what all he has done to secure some financial help for college .( Student loans, grants etc.) Baseball should be secondary to that.

    Game 2 Lexington 16 E Randolph 9 Lexington leads 2-0

Rising sophomore Zach White pitched a solid 6 innings to get the win. Zach is a lefty with a large upside. However ER can really swing the lumber. They've been averaging about 10 runs a game the past month.

Key hits: Grand Slam by Zach Roach & a 3 run dinger by Daniel Kassouf. ER had 3 home runs, but I don't know the names of the kids who hit them. Ball was flying tonight for sure.

As reported Lexington lost 10-9. Another crazy game...seems like that's the only kind we play. Lex was down 9-5 with 2 outs in 9th...no one on base. Then wacky stuff happened & we batted around (with a good bit of help from ER...3 walks & an error) & tied the game.

ER scored in the bottom of 9th after the ump totally blew a call at first that would end the inning: Grounder to short...hits kid in chest...picked it up & threw the batter out...except the Blue anticipated he would be safe.

No sour grapes here...ER outplayed us tonight & deserved the W, but I'm telling you the call was absolutely horrible. That's baseball, huh?

Game 4 Lexington 14 East Randolph 4 Lexington leads 3-1

Working on 2 days rest again, Superstar Andrew Morton remained undefeated on the season & went the distance (8 innings). East Randolph has a ton of offense, but Mort managed to make key pitches to work out of a few jams.

The game ended in the 8th with Ben Redmond hitting a solo shot followed by a 3 run bomb by Brandon Clodfelter.

This series is not over because ER brings their ace (one of the Strickland twins) tomorrow at their house. He held Lex to 5 runs but lost to Mort in game 1. I expect Lex to throw rising sophomore Zach White. If Zach's change-up is locating, it will likely be a pitcher's duel.
