Thanks Post337...nobody wants to read their name posted that they were cut. It's easy to figure out and yet, I know WestMeck's intentions were not to embarrass anyone.

Right now, Charlotte fields legion teams listed as:
    -Pineville Post 337
    -Charlotte Post 262
    -Steele Creek Post 221

Along with the above teams, last year Charlotte also fielded the Newell Post legion team (whose players went mostly to Pineville) that folded this year due to lack of coaching. The year before along with the above teams, Charlotte also fielded the Paw Creek Post legion team (that went mostly to Steele Creek) and I am not certain why it folded but I would suspect it was because of lack of coaching again as well with possibly a few other obstacles.

I also believe that the showcase teams has diluted quite frankly for sure!

Maybe someone that has been around the legion scene and more knowledge on other past legion teams can bring more to the table than I have listed above. All in all, it is a great commitment on any adult person's part to commit themselves to a summer of coaching a legion team taking into consideration that if your legion teams advances on into the play-offs, that there will be no vacations and quality time spend with your own family?!?

What thoughts do other's have in regard to this discussion but wait...I think that this needs to be a whole new thread in its self so that we don't lose focus of the purpose of this particular thread so...see NEW thread listed as: "
Where there other legion teams in the Charlotte area before Pineville, Charlotte & Steele Creek? and, of so, who were they and what happended to them?"

I would like to know what rule that says a player can not be released.

It happens all over the American Legion System in all the states.

Congratulations to Pineville on their series sweep over Hickory. Two of the three games could have gone the other way, but Post 337 found a way to win. Good teams do that. :229031_ha

Not sure if Hickory, as a #8 seed, was overlooked by Pineville. But Hickory has nothing to be ashamed of. A couple more timely hits, fewer errors.......

It was a hard fought, clean series between two class teams. Good luck the rest of the way. :twocents:
