Six good players released for the playoffs -- I know they have to get that powerhouse roster down to 18, but maybe they should consider giving kids releases early if they know they're not going to keep them for the play-offs --especially our Myers Park boys who wanted to play with us in the first place. :bluegrab:

Good luck in the playoffs. There can't be a more talented roster anywhere in the state.

DB--the way I understand it, because of the way Charlotte decides who is eligible for where, a player can not receive a release. It is a little too complicated for me, but if Coach Rummage wanted to give a player his release....he can't.

I agree DodgerBlues but...out of the 6 Pineville players released, there were 2 that you would categorize as Pineville/Myers Park players and they actually were released as injured players and unable to continue on with legion baseball this year anyway unfortuntely. A Pineville/MP pitcher is still recovering from shoulder surgery and not completely healed as yet and the Pineville/MP infielder has broken bones in his hand that he acquired during one of the last games diving back into 1st base right before the Pineville roster was being cut from 24 great players to 18 great players. But I still wish that ALL the cut Pineville players were playing somewhere as they are ALL great players and it was a very, very hard decision for the Pineville coach to make on who got to stay and who had to leave in order to follow the rules of a 18-player roster going into the AL Area IV play-offs.

Coach Rummage has all my respect. I know for a fact it pains him to do this each year, but his decision is based on what's best for the team. He's smart, knowledgeable and caring for his players. In my opinion, Randy Rummage is the most underrated coach in the State...just how he likes it :D

Pineville is a very good team, but should be. Eight college players on a roster that draws from five very large high schools.
Why aren't the Myers Park boys playing at Charlotte Post 262.

Since Newell did not field a legion team this year, the Charlotte area American Legion player's dividing lines were redrawn this year and thus a couple of Myers Park and Independence players got reshuffled to play @ Pineville in the segregation process is my understanding but...even before the redividing of the legion lines this year, one of the Myers Park players had already been slotted to play with Pineville in past years according to where he lived and had no problelm with playing @ Pineville, I believe.

But if you look very clearly @ Pineville's stats, you will see that the area high school players that are on the Pineville team this year are more than pulling their own weight offensively and defensively this legion season against the college players and...other legion teams have the same eligibility age limit as the Pineville legion team. As quoted from the Charlotte Observer today, "Pineville has players from Mecklenburg County's most successful programs -- South Mecklenburg, Providence, Butler, Independence and Charlotte Christian."

RYAN MORRIS - Rising Senior @ South Meck - OBSERVER PLAYER OF THE YEAR + ALL-OBSERVER TEAM + ALL MECKLENBURG TEAM.
DANIEL COOKE- Graduating Senior from Independence - ALL OBSERVER TEAM plus ALL MECKLENBURG TEAM.
AARON BRAY- Graduating Senior from Independence - ALL MECKLENBURG TEAM.
See the Pineville American Legion article in the Charlotte Observer this morning "Pineville is on a roll heading into Area 4 playoffs" @ http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlotte/sports/12030030.htm

I'll say it again; Pineville is a very good baseball team. Could win it all.
No problem with the team roster, but The Charlotte Area should have more legion teams.

You can go back to the first roster posted for the Pineville Post 337 on this thread and then compare it with the last roster that was posted for the Pineville Post 337 on this thread when the rules called for a 18-player roster before heading into the play-offs.
