East Rutherford traveled up to AC tonight to take on the pre-season 4A #3 Rockets. A bad wreck on I-26 delayed their arrival. They got off the bus at 3:45 and the scrimmage started about 20 minutes later, no BP or infield and then had to face Sam Runion. With about 15 scouts in attendance, Runion threw 3 scoreless innings, hitting 92-95 on the Jugs guns I saw. AC led 1-0 when he left, then the Cavalier bats got hot. East scored 6 times over the next 7 innings, then added another 6 when the subs started coming in. Cav pitchers threw well, allowing only 3 hits the first 11 innings and 5 overall while striking out 13. East Rutherford opens the season Monday on the road against North Gaston and probable starter Jake Buchanan (NC State signee).

Thanks for the stats..small correction,..AWalls pitching stats were 1IP..1H..1R..1K..1BB..believe the stats you gave him belonged to Terbeek. The Cavaliers are definitely loaded, I believe both teams got a look at some serious pitching. Good luck this season!

I wouldn't read too much into a scrimmage. Remember Paeplow did not play. He's probably there # 2 pitcher and middle of the order hitter. Also, when Runion pitches they can play with anybody.

Not sure how to interpret "that says alot about AC too", so on another note, had the game been a regular 7-inning game, the final score would have been 3-1 ER (if the same pitching lineup had been kept and each team not have kept their starting pitcher in the whole 7), and as mentioned, the Rockets were down a player who might've made a difference.

That's what scrimmages are for - trying out your lineup against good teams - all-in-all it was a good scrimmage game and now the Rockets know what they have to work on...

best of luck to ER this season - great program!
