here are the seeds for the 2005 state tournament. despite the low # of teams in the tournament there are some quality teams in the tournament. Charlotte Christian looks to be the favorite but a possible 2nd round matchup between either Providence Day or Wesleyan could bring trouble, both teams are very good. Cardinal Gibbons is the #2 seed and is very very good, they beat christian very early in the year by a score of 2-1 and will likely play in the championship game. Country Day will pose a threat to cardinal gibbons in the 2nd round. country day has a strong team with some very good players.

    #1 Charlotte Christian School (22-10)

    #8 Greensboro Day School 9-10

    #5 Wesleyan Academy 17-7

    #4 Providence Day School 15-9

#3 Charlotte Country Day School 17-9

    #6 Ravenscroft School 10-8

    #7 Durham Academy 12-6

    #2 Cardinal Gibbons 20-9

    Gibbons??

According to www.charlottechristianbaseball.com Christian came back and bounced Gibbons 12-0 in the second game of the double header. Who else has Gibbons played?

    Gibbons

We played Gibbons twice this year (South Granville). We faced Lang the first time and Ballengee the second time. The first time we met, Gibbons won 3-2. Lang is a tough kid to get to especially if you have not seen him before. He is a small kid at probaly 5'7 140 throws from the left side. What makes him tough is he comes at you from about four different arm slots. Submarine , side arm , 3/4 , and over the top. He can locate four seamer two seamer change up and his curve ball is pretty good. We managed 6 hits but they were scattered. The second time we faced them we saw Tyler Ballengee who has signed with UNCG. He is a kid that is around 85-87. He has a good change and a pretty good curveball. We beat them 4-0. Ballengee struggles with controll a little but when he is on throwing strikes and locating he is pretty good. They are very fundementally sound and Coach Liebler does a great job with his teams. Defensively they are solid and Trocheck behind the plate is good as well. Lang got the win over Providence and Im not sure who pitched in the loss. Im not sure about their schedule but they are a solid team. When Lang or Balengee are on (controll) they will be a tough team to beat. They took some L's when their better pitching was not available.

    thx & All-state?

almost like a scouting report. as i recall it seems like the "slot changer" beat CCS while the other guy took the loss.

The Chlt Obsrvr listed the NCISAA all-state team. Anybody have any insight as to the criteria for selections? who made them?

    WP: Wallace

a well played game today and wallace pitched very well. Wesleyan balked in the go-ahead run and PD held them from there. This creates what will be an exciting game up in raliegh b/t 2 rivals Charlotte Christian vs. Providence Day. This will be a great game and will be palyed at 1pm friday at Cary Academy
