Mars Hill is hanging in there. Playing much better than last year and really starting to hit. Trying desperately to make top 6 for season ending SAC Championship. Currently 9-9 in conf. and hanging tough. Team returns every position player next year. Should be exciting.

Another 30 plus win season/record is broken for UNC Pembroke Braves

The #17 Braves of UNCP extended the programs number of season with at least 30 wins to ten straight with a 5-3 decision over PBC rival Francis Marion on 4/13/14. The link to the story is:

    http://www.uncpbraves.com/sports/bsb/2013-14/releases/201404139aj9n3

Also UNCP’s broke a school record in the Francis Marion series for doubles (125) in a season with seven regular season games left and hopefully some post season games. The 125 doubles leads the country.

Other offensive numbers for the Braves through 4/6/14:

#1 in hits at 482; 3B Jordan Edgerton is #2 with 66 hits, 2B Daniel Fragga is #5 with 63 and CF Drew Cole is #17 with 57 hits.

#1 in doubles with 113 (now at 125); Edgerton is #1 with 19.

#2 in team batting average at .349.

#3 in runs scored at 334.

    #4 in slugging % at .508.

    #9 on OB % of .422

    On the defensive side:

#1 in double plays turned with 44.

Pitcher Jr. Garrett Hickman is #2 with 8 wins.

Good luck Braves as you close out the regular season and participate in the very competitive PBC post season tournament. Looks like nationally ranked #2 Lander, #6 USC Aiken, #9 HA College, #15 UNC Pembroke, #21 Columbus State will be among the eight teams that qualify. There is still plenty of baseball left in the regular season so changes may occur.

    Rain, rain go away

Awe the joys of being a baseball player parent, traveling to out of state games staying in a hotel waiting for the call that the games will be played.

We love our boys of summer!
