2011 ENC State Babe Ruth Championship

    Triangle South won the 2011 Eastern NC State Championship this evening in Havelock beating Coastal Plains 11-0. Coastal Plains finished 2-2 on the weekend.

    Triangle South went 4-0 during the weekend.
    Game 1 vs Crystal Coast #2: 13-1
    Game 2 vs Crystal Coast #1: 7-1
    Game 3 vs Coastal Plains: 8-5
    Game 4 vs Coastal Plains: 11-0

    Jimmy Boyd (Middle Creek, '12) was on fire this weekend going 10-13 at the plate with 2 homeruns. Also picked up a save vs Coastal Plains on Sunday and then a 5-inning complete game shutout on Monday in the championship.
    Other weekend highlights for Triangle South:
    Charlie Parsons (Cardinal Gibbons, '10 / Franciscan College / Wake Tech '12) hit two homeruns.
    Tony Ayala Sanchez (Cary, '12) had a monster homerun on Day 1.
    Tyler Jones (Green Hope, '12) was 5-9 with a 3run homerun in the championship.
    Jordan Powell (Middle Creek, '11 / Greensboro College) was 8-15 including an inside-the-park homerun on Sunday.
    Tyler Kenney (Middle Creek, '11 / Lenoir CC) picked up 2 wins during the tournament, one of which was out of relief.

    This team is made up of 17 players who played on the Cary Sr Babe Ruth team during the summer which finished 14-0 and finished first in the Triangle Area Babe Ruth League.

    The Triangle South All-Stars next play in South Hill, VA for the Southeast Regional Tournament. Winner advances to Babe Ruth World Series in Ephrata, WA.
