    DBAP to host 2009 ACC baseball tourney

    The 2009 ACC Baseball Tournament will be at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, the Bulls confirmed Wednesday.

    The event had been scheduled for Fenway Park in Boston, but the Red Sox had major league games scheduled for the dates the ACC needed.

    That left the ACC looking for a new place, and it quickly turned to Durham.

    The last ACC baseball tournament in the Triangle was in 1999.

    Attendance at the time was modest. But local ACC baseball has taken off since then, with North Carolina making College World Series trips and N.C. State winning key NCAA matchups.

    The tournament will be held May 20-24, 2009.
