Providence was up by 1 at the half, but MHS final got things going midway through the 3rd quarter. Petey had 25 points and 19 rebounds. I was glad to see all the fans out to support the Titans.

    Myers Park 82
    Watauga 73

Myers park jumped out to a 27-10 lead after the first quarter. Watauga played strong in the second half but couldnt dig themself out of the hole the put themselves in early on. Great season for the Pioneers.

Mcdowell, great job and good luck in the second round!

Just to make a brief comment on tonight's action...McDowell had the usual "deer in the headlights" look in the first half...it they would have done that against a team like Butler, they would have been blown out of the gym before halftime. Fortunately it was Providence, a team that only knows one style and that's slowdown basketball. Petey dominated the paint in the second half...Buggy and Chris made some big plays. The crucial part of the game was when Buggy got the score and foul on the blocking call early 4th quarter. Kincaid had four fouls at the time and that play could have gone either way.

I also think home court played a crucial part in the win...there were many lead changes in the game. Stuff like that in the end favors the home team because they usually string off 6-8 in a row which determines the outcome. Providence was never able to do that. Also as titan90 stated, a very good crowd on hand considering it was a 1st round game.

Butler will be making the trip to mountainball country to face McDowell wednesday night. The Butler fans are already chatting on charlotte.com planning the trip. We McDowell fans need to pack the joint and be as rowdy as possible. Can the Titans pull off the win? We shall see...
