ACHS also lost to 1-9 Watauga too. Football's a funny game, esp JV play which is inconsistant.

Courage is FEAR, that said it's PRAYERS.
JV scores and outcomes can be strange mainly because Varsity teams take the best underclassmen up to their teams, and even do so during the season when injuries occur. Here is a link the results of ALL the NW4A JV teams last year.....

    Not from the NW 4A

But the team from Crest Middle last year ran the table, scored over 400 points and only gave up 24, with 17 of that coming in the last game of the year. Some of these kids hit 9th grade this year, so the Crest JV's could be okay.

Watauga started a true freshman at QB last year. With one more year in this spread offense hopefully he will do better. The spread is hard on a QB to learn.

    The Junior Varsity Secret

Obviously, if a Junior Varsity program has a great year at a school it bodes well for the future, but because a school has a bad JV year doesn't always tell the whole story either. Somebody hit on this earlier and you just can't always tell how one year is going to affect the next. There are so many extraneous factors from one year to the next kids with grade problems that might make a kid ineligible one year, kids already playing varsity that will be around for a couple of more years, coaching changes, some kids just flat skip a year and comeback, and injuries play factor as well. I remember when McDowell High won their last conference title in 1992 I think. Two years before that they had to disband the JV team and move all of those kids up because they only had 13 players. Those 13 players wound up getting plenty of playing time that year on Varsity and as Seniors two years later they smoked just about everybody and went 9-1. Of course if you would have asked local fans the year they disbanded the JV team what were the prospects for the future the answer would have been pretty gloomy. That is why I notice if JV teams are doing well, but I never count out a Varsity program down the road if the JV squad has had a bad year prior.
