    Charlotte Megastars Scores:

    1st Game vs. Ashland A's

    Megastars - 6 A's -1, WP - Dusty White

    2nd Game vs. Fairfield Chiefs

    Megastars - 3 Chiefs 1 (8 Innings)
WP - Barthelson; Walk off HomeRun by Ryan Smith

    3rd Game vs TCYO Slammers

    Slammers - 4 Megastars - 3
(Very hard fought dogfight, with a heartbreaking loss in the 7th); LP was Matt Dameron, who pitched well, but the Megastars struggled with a pitcher from the Slammers whose curve ball was around 58 mph and kept the Megastar bats off sequence most of the game).

Megastars finished the first round of pool play seated 7th, with a bye in the first round of play in the championship bracket. They play at 1:00 tomorrow against the Diamond Stars. Double elimination from here out.

    Megastar Update/Final

Sorry for the delay in updates - going to go over just the highlites - been a long couple of days - instead of two games on Friday, we had three. We lost our first game to New Prague (Minn) on Friday mid-day, by a score of 6-3 (LP-Dane Arneson). We had to play a 2nd game at 7:30 pm and won against the Black Swamp Spiders by a score of 9-1 (WP - Dusty White) and then played again (back to back at 9:30 pm) against the Toronto Blue Jays (Ontario) - won with a score or 9-0 (WP was Kyle Barthelson). We were back at it at noon today and came out flat against the Players Edge Elite. They had just been handed their first loss by a very narrow margin - but were able to bounce back strong, with some very powerful bats and eliminated the Megastars with a 12-4 score (LP - Matt Dameron). Still waiting on a final determination, but the Megastars should have finished 5th or 6th overall in the tournament - not bad. A slight improvement from last year's World Series, where we finished 7th overall. Even though the boys were glad to have placed in the "Elite 8" again, they really, really wanted a Final Four or Championship finish - but came up short. We definitely missed a couple of players who ended up not being able to play with us in the tournament at the last minute -- but overall, it was a good tournament for the Megastars and they represented North Carolina well.
