'06 Bat vs. '09 Bat Question?

After all the news back in the spring concerning the new bat regulations, should a player use a 2006 composite bat (ex. Worth Mayhem) with less than a hundred swings or purchase a new 2009 composite bat that has less pop? Most assume that new is always better but that shouldn't be the case with this ruling. With the talk of break in procedures and such you would think the older bat should be good until it cracks or breaks.

Rumor was the colleges were buying up the old stuff in preparation as the new regulations for bat manufacturers changed in June. I guess that will tell the tale when spring starts and we observe what the college teams are using.

What period of time are the pre-2009 bats grandfathered into the rules? I heard 2010 and another claimed 2012?

 

The college coaches can tell you, but I think if they are sponsored, they will use that particular bat?
