yeah, like Pisgah I'm worried that Freedom may have to make some alternate plans for at least the next few games if not the entire season. I wonder what are the possible considerations for Freedom? I think one possible scenario could be to play their games at East Burke on a Saturday, I wonder how the schools that Freedom has for home games would feel about that? Are there any other fields in Morganton that would serve as a possible alternate site?

We have middle school fields and before I go any farther, I am not an expert on this and have no connection to the school anymore since my kid graduated a couple of years ago. I stiil go to games though.

Now, to continue . . . we have middle school fields, there is the old Morganton High field, some of the county rec fields, and NCSD. None of which will be conducive to Friday nights in my humble opinion. The middle schools don't have lights or the capacity for football crowds. Old Morganton High has lights, I think, but not much capacity. NCSD has lights but no capacity for crowds. EB would be a good choice, if they would help out their cross county rival. I don't know how the visiting schools would feel or even Freedom fans for that matter. It wouldn't matter much to me, just a little longer drive to get to a game and EB does have an excellent facility thanks to their boosters. Other than that, there isn't much of a choice except to change the rest of the games to away games. I wonder how THAT would go over.

Oh man, those photos are amazing! I also saw a pic of the Pisgah field and it is heartbreaking. I'm proud of my alma mater, WCU, offering their field for minimal cost. It says much for the other schools around to offer their facilities as well.

Courage is FEAR, that said it's PRAYERS.
This is purely speculation but I noticed that on the date Reynolds plays Freedom that East Burke is Home as well. My thought is maybe McDowell would offer their field for the game between Freedom and Reynolds that night, as they are playing away at Watauga. It is just about halfway between Reynolds and Freedom and I think there would be a big crowd there as the fans from McDowell who didn't travel to Watauga might would come and see the game as well. More $$$ for Freedom! I don't know how conceivable this is but just a thought.

I saw on the news this morning that Freedom has had some offers of a place to play. One was LR and the other offeree was never identified that I heard. Damn newspeople, they tell part of the friggin story and never go back to it. I wish they'd just tell the story and be done with it instead of teasing you. It was Channel 3, did anyone hear the rest of it later? Has anybody heard anything about where the Pats will be playing this weekend beyond what pitifully little the news said.

I am a little concerned that no one will be playing this coming weekend, and that we may be getting another round of heavy rain. I pray for all those who were effected last week that this doesn't happen, but it's not looking good looking at extended forcast as heavy rain and wind is forcasted for Friday from Asheville to Morganton, and beyond.

Yeah, Channel 3 ran that story yesterday at 5 pm. Lenoir-Rhyne has offered their field for Freedom to use, and of course East Burke is another option. BUT, the kids at Freedom don't wanna play on their hated rivals home field. A couple of the players were interviewed and they showed their dislike for the option of playing at East Burke. You know, I understand where the kids are coming from with school spirit and all, but sometimes you have to look at reality. In other words, if LR wasn't an option then I guess those kids would have to forefit those home games since they strongly disagree to playing at East Burke.

most games west of Charlotte are being moved up to Thursday. The ones I know for sure are...

Ashbrook @ Freedom (game will be played at East Burke)
    RS Central @ McDowell
    Franklin @ Asheville

And many more games other than what I posted. AC Reynolds vs Ridgeway (TN) has been cancelled and no makeup date determined as of yet.

There are a couple schools that are trying to get very lucky and wait until friday, they'll likely play next week sometime.

Also, talked to some pretty good sources at Freedom, they may get to play on their field before the season ends, barring any bad setbacks from Ivan. People in the community are donating equipment because most stuff got damaged in the field house, also the visitor concession stand was badly damaged inside. The real thing holding them back right now is that Duke Power has to come in and replace the electrical system there on the field, of course they're gonna wait until after Ivan before that process is completed.
