Giovanni Gonzalez is projected to be in the Top Ten of this year's draft. This kid is an incredible left handed pitcher and what happened is not necessarily his fault...but the coach had to make a decision on what's best for his team. Kudos for this Coach!!!!!

Like Braves I saw Gio pitch in Jupiter -- he was quite impressive. Interesting story -- there may be more to it. It is hard to believe the coach didn't know what he was getting into when the brothers transferred for their senior and junior years. Hard to believe the family would have picked his school unless they thought they had an understanding that the brother would play - given that was the whole reason for the transfer (a very poor reason, but it was the reason). Too bad the mom messed things up for Gio's senior season playoff run. Way too often we parents mess things up for our kids in sports -- it is just too difficult for some to stay away and let the coach do his job. Coaches do make mistakes, but they are generally unbiased and generally have the best of motives, unlike parents.

Did he pitch in the game the Thunderstorm played against the S.C. Diamond Devils?

I saw them in that game and part of another. I think it was that game -- Braves might remember better -- a smallish left-hander with a lot of pop and good stuff. The Diamond Devils beat them -- but largely because the second baseman made three errors and the DD catcher had a huge day with the bat.
