Improved to 27-14 today with 2 wins over Southeastern CC. Two more games tomorrow against them. Season finishes up Tuesday with a game @ Pitt CC. Has been a very good season for LCC with some big wins and heartbreaking losses to some of the top teams in Division 1 JUCO ball (Surry, Louisburg...).

Southeastern and LCC are the only two teams in Region X's Division 2 this year. Southeastern vs. LCC next weekend @ Mt. Olive College in a best of three starting Friday night for the conference title. Winner advances to Maryland to face the Region 20 champ, May 21-22.

We played Southeastern at LCC this year. I played at Southeastern a couple of years ago in fall ball... don't remember the field much. Plus it was the fall so I doubt the field was lookin sharp like it does in the spring. Rockingham plays at Rockingham County HS still.... not real nice to play at.

Here's my opinion on the fields that we vistited this year.....

Spartanburg-Methodist's field wasn't what I expected. Outfield was very rough, not a bad infield. No fences on the side. Below average dugouts and below average bullpens. If you've been to Hickory's legion field, that is what it reminded me of. Steep hill behind homeplate that rounded the field with the cement bleachers behind home plate.

Louisburg has a nice field. Very short to right field, and actually pretty short all around. Big wall in centerfield.... good playing field and nice dugouts/bullpens.

Surry CC had a nice field. Played slow from what I remember, but nothing rough. Home dugout was nice with the attached locker room. Visitor dugout nice as well. Good bullpens on both sides.

Blue Ridge wasn't bad. Real nice dugouts, decent bullpens. We played there at the beginning of the season so my memory doesn't bring me back much. It was real cold though.

We played Wilkes and Southeastern at home, and travel to Pitt to end our season tomorrow.

Our homefield is nice in my opinion. Good playing surface, spacious dugouts and quality dugouts on each side.

Not sure about Southeastern or Rockingham's records.... Sorry.

Oh yeah... NCSU had a pretty decent field, and so did Grainger Stadium (home of Kinston Indians, Single A).

I agree with JM15 on the fields. As for Southeastern's field it wasn't very nice the last time I saw it. It is run down, but has the potential to be ok. They have a nice scoreboard in center that is the eye piece of it. RCC's needs to get an on campus field. That HS field they play at is awful. Congratulations to LCC, especially JM15 for his fine pitching performance against Southeastern! Good luck in the series. As for D1 they finished the regular season like this (not sure of the exact conference records):

    (1) Louisburg vs. (8) USC-Salkehatchie
    (2) Surry vs. (7) Wilkes
    (3) Spartanburg Methodist vs. (6) Rockingham
    (4) Pitt vs. (5) Blue Ridge

Looks like a great tournament to me with some very intriguing first round match ups!!! Good luck to all the teams.

The facilities their are MUCH IMPROVED the past season under the direction of NEW Coach Stoney White! I look for it to be a showcase diamond/facility in the state before the next year or two! Watch and seeeee...... :xyzthumbs

What a great thread. I loved reading about the fields. I thought it was funny that the one area Jere described best were the bullpens.

Good luck to LCC and hope you get to Maryland

Haha, I love a good bullpen.

Game 2 got rained out today with Southeastern.

It will be made up either Sunday, Monday, or next Saturday... whenever this rain stops.

Me and some of the boys played wiffle ball in the rain for about 3 hours today. Lot of fun.
