Actually at Winthrop, we do a quality at-bats chart, and after about ten games, our coach will post who has the highest percentage of quality AB's. We'll give +'s for hits, walks,HBP,moving a runner over with no outs, sac bunts and flies, reaching on an error, or hitting the ball hard on a line. Negatives are given when we fail to advance a runner, fail to sac bunt, strike out, weak ground ball or fly out.

    THE SON

In some ways I see a quality a bat as some one that goes up to the plate and battles with the pitch for 10 or more pitches. Not only does it get the rest of the team a look at the pitcher and what he will through but it frustrates the pitcher and makes him work. I know against a team we played this seasom we had a batter go 14 pitches deep into a bat and end up striking out but after that everyone on the team started to hit and he got a hit his next a bat.

    you said it sugar!!!!!!!

a quality and/or productive AB team wise it is alot different than one individually wise! In your example HIT or not HIT KO or walk I agree! Did you get a good loooook? Are you more confident now going up next time? Do you "know" you can hit him or drive the ball off him now? Do you FEEELL good about the at bat? Do you think your Coach knows and or feeels good about "your" at abt as well being a quality one! :applause: :applause: :applause:

i agree... it not only makes him work, but it gets him tired a lot quicker if he has to throw that many pitches to one batter
