When my son was in T-Ball, in one of the games I ended up being one of the "parent umpires". My son was on 1st and went to 3rd on a hit to left. Well the outfielder made a great throw and my son was going to be out but he made a great slide. I stood there waiting for the umpire to make the call until I realized I was "the umpire". I called him safe and the other teams coach went nuts.

At that point I did not know that coach, but over the years he has become one of my best friends and all I have to do is mention T-Ball and he blushes over the way he acted that day.

I love this thread!!!! All the things mentioned have not changed. Here is the thing that makes me feel old. I have a 17 yo who I went through all the different levels of baseball and I was glad to (age out)...although I didn't coach him.

Now I am an old man but received a miracle child...he is in T-Ball and I get to pick his Team Mom...unfortunately she has already told me "you have a cute grandson"....I kicked her off the team :teeth:

How about the kid whose on every T-ball team, everywhere? Heavy set kid, long basketball type shorts that hang below his knees, long stockings that come above his knees, rubber cleats or new tennis shoes, new glove, plays 1st, runs like his shorts are on fire with arms flayling everwhere. You laugh so hard, and after the game he's the one you want to hug most.

Or how about the coach, who after the last game of the season says, "Ok, let's go get ice cream for everyone!" I like that coach.

Or the granddads sitting in their lawn chairs, cheering on their grandkids (girls and boys), lying to eachother about how good they were at that age!

    Man I miss T-Ball !!!

The typical problem most T-Ball coach's have is when the airplane flies over and none of the players pay attention to the game.. :scared2:

I did have the heavyset kid on every tball team.. but the one i'll never forget is the kid named anthony who did not care about playing baseball , because when he grew up he wanted to be Superman..

I had one that was laying on his back in the third base line flapping his arms back and forth. When I asked him what he was doing, he said he was making dust angels.

Some of the best cart wheels ever performed by a 5 year old -were done in right field- as a ball rolled to the fence.
