I have had an opportunity to watch Butler play 3 games this year. Every game that I have watched there is one player that always catches my attention....Greg Garmon.

This fireplug of a player plays the game the right way....he gets DIRTY. That's right..he is the type of player that mother's get mad at because he always goes home with a dirty uniform. He will do anything to help his team win...if that means to dive headfirst and collide with a runner..he will do that. He'll play with a bum leg, suffered from football, but if you need him to pitch, he will pitch, after saying all this, one of the things that I love is his swing. It's ferocious!! This compact lefty does not get cheated on his cuts.

If a college is looking for a 1st baseman that can hit, play with passion and is mentally and physically tough...then you need to stop by Butler High School and scoop this kid up.

One more note..As a senior, what do you think this kid will be doing during the Easter Holidays....He won't be at the beach....he will be in the batting cage everyday trying to get better.

"Don't know 'em"....you are right "O". Many people don't know him that's why I posted something about him. There are many players that play this game, but not nearly play it with all out passion and dedication that this kid displays.

I have seen this kid bang into a fence trying to catch a foul ball with no fear. I have seen him dive head first to tag a runner sliding to the bag, knowing he was going to get roughed up. I have seen him play when a knee that was injured in football would have kept many players on the sideline. He plays because he loves this game. He plays aggressively, just like the football player that he is. He will rip a double into the gap or go yard...he takes a controlled compact violent swing at most strikes.

There are plenty of posts and threads of players everyone knows. I thought it would be good to post a thread of an underrated player, that deserves some attention because of his talent and work effort. It's refreshing to hear how most seniors are spending their free time making plans for the beach, while this kid's plans are to work even harder to get better.

If you like a competitor. If you like the underdog. If you like to watch a player "get dirty"....watch Greg Garmon--1st base--Butler High School

He did play last yr. In the 3-1 game he was out With a knee after fielding a bad throw and collision with a M.P. player the game before sent him to the hospital. But he did get the out.

Braves I bet his Mommy will cry when she sees this :xyzthumbs
