Black Mountain, NC (March 24, 2004) – The Milligan College Lady Buffs softball team swept Montreat (N.C.) College in Appalachian Athletic Conference action Wednesday afternoon by the scores of 4-0 and 1-0 to improve to 24-10 overall and 10-2 in the AAC.

In the second inning, the Lady Buffs scored another run as freshman Megan Aldridge scored on an error as Fritts reached first safely. Milligan was not done, as they added two more in the fourth inning. Davis scored as Rebecca Gilley reached base on an error by Montreat and Gilley scored on a single from freshman Ashley Mashburn.
For Milligan on the mound, junior Brandy Waddle pitched a seven inning complete game allowing two hits with nine strikeouts. In game two, Milligan scored their only run in the fourth inning on a squeeze play. Senior Shelby Banion scored as Brandy Waddle put down the bunt and reached first safely with a single.
Junior Traci Harrison picked up the win pitching six innings of shut out softball. She scattered three hits and struck out six Montreat batters. Brandy Waddle came in to earn the save in the seventh inning. In her inning of work, she struck out all three batters she faced. At the plate for the Lady Buffs, freshman shortstop Sarah Smith went 2-4 and senior catcher Shelby Banion went 2-3 at the plate and scored the only run of the game.

AAC (Appalachian Athletic Conference) Tournament is at White Top Creek Athletic Facilities
    Bristol, TN.
Don't know if WD and WM will be there. If they finish the season 1 or 2 they get an automatic to the Region XII tournament, if that happens we'll save our time off for the Regional and hopefully on to the Nationals.
