Coaches--do you like 3rd base or dugout?

    :thumbup:.........my feelings as well. my pitching coaches(softball) stink coaching third.........sorry em and "T", but you get the picture now! :xyzthumbs

    gotta have that sharp assistant who you trust otherwise and then that would take time.

    :laugh1: Well here is my two cents for what it may be worth!?!?!?..... Most HS coaches do not or are not in a position to have a "high" quality coach with the experience needed to handle NOT ONLY 1st base but especially 3rd! It takes years to build up the trust and comfort level to put any one on either base BUT at the HS level most of us do not have this luxury! EXPERIENCEEEEEEE is the key! Not only playing experience but coaching as well! Your assistants must know your philosophy and be trusted in implemeting it! Communication is IMPERATIVE!!!!! Until then and only then 1st base is FIRST for your assistant! Very little has irked me more than an assistant NOT knowing what they are doing OUT their! Yet we ALLLLLL must be given an opportunity to get the experience--NOTHING and ABSOLUTELY nothing compares to having been a player at the highest level possible to be able to KNOW and FEEL the game and how to approach these situations as a runner(s) and eventually a coach! :nono: Until I get there, or him, i am the man on 3rd and the only one! College ranks pro ranks obviously a different story! GREAT THREAD and great posts!!!!! :xyzthumbs

    Love the thread. I wish that more coaches would get on here and tell their opinion or strategy.

    IN order for me to move to the dugout from Third Base, I would need to have complete trust in 2 asst coaches. I have 1 asst coach, so therefore trust is not an issue. That's why he coaches First and I coach 3rd.

    I know of a coach that is now retired that coached 1st base, the only job of the 3rd base coach was to get them home. He ran the game from the first base box. He gave very few live signals to steal was to simply receive a wink from coach.

    What do you think about that?

    the only issue and or question is HOWWWWWW do u know within yourself when is the timew to give it up and "trust" someone you :huh: :scared2: know what I mean?????? :huh: :huh: :huh: :thinking: :thinking: :thinking:
