Here's a story for this new thread!

While you guys are shivering in NC, I've been on a business to Jackson, MS, where it was 64 degrees today. This afternoon I got online to find a local college baseball game. There are several here. Any way, Belhaven was scheduled to play Loyola (New Orleans) at 2:00. I went to the game and #20 came up to bat for Loyola. The batter was introduced as Hilton Pittman. I told the guy next to me that I thought the player was from NC. Sure enough, it was NC's own Hilton Pittman. Talk about a freaky coincidence!

Loyola lost the game 5-4 with an overall record of 8-3. Pittman didn't have a great day at the plate, going 1-5, making the last out of the game on a swinging K, with the tying run on 2nd.

I didn't hang around after the game to talk to Hilton, but I'm thinking about going back to the DH tomorrow afternoon.

It was fun watching a player I've only read about on this board!

Hilton! That's my boy. I saw Hilton in the Cary Mall around Christmas time and he told me he was playing down there. That's awesome you saw him play. He is hilarious, and one heck of a ballplayer. If you speak with him tomorrow... tell him "J4" says hey.

We can do that. Do you think it will draw enough interest?

    JM15 !

I went back to Belhaven college yesterday at 11:00, before the DH started at 1:00. I was able to get Hilton's attention and introduced myself. He was as amazed at meeting someone from NC as I was to meet him! I told him you said HI and he asked where you were playing ball. I had to leave before the end of the first game, but Hilton had gone 1/2 with a rope single to left and a swinging K. Score was tied 1-1.

Afetr talking to Hilton, a lady with a Loyola sweatshirt on asked me if I was from NC. She is from Raleigh and her husband is a volunteer assistant for Loyola. His name is George Swain. He played at UNC in '84 and still lives in the Raleigh area. Coach Swain is how Hilton got to Loyola. Hilton redshirted at Campbell his freshman year and at Coach Swain's suggestion, transferred to Loyola(New Orleans). I sat with Coach Swain's wife as she ran the radar gun and made notes, until I had to leave. A great day all around!

I'm going to make it a point, from now on, to try and find a game while I'm on the road. You just neve know who you might run into!
