You have got to be kidding me??? He is ranked in the top 50 pitchers in the state, and is being recruited by quite a few colleges. He has been on the team since his sophomore year and started. He was a key pitcher this summer with the OnDeck team. How is this possible?

I don't know the kid so this is an outsiders view. Isn't there a new coach there? If there is and he in unfamilier with the players, and this kid did not have a good tryout, that can happen. There could be numerous reasons.

Mudcat...normally I would agree with you, but the coach knew the kid and quite honestly if you are going to evaluate a kid in two days that has been a performer for 3 years....just doesn't seem right.

Remember, we are talking about a kid rated #48 on Impact polls and was a Top Ten unsigned senior and All Jupiter team competing with the best players in the nation. Apparently, some scouts rated him differently than his HS coach.

I guess the underlying question is this.......colleges appear to be interested in his talent, but he is not good enough to make his HS team?

I am really not trying to slam Coach Hignight. I'm sure he has his reasons.....but knowing AJ as I do, I am shocked and disappointed for AJ and his family.

They have a few options to explore and I am interested to see what direction they will go in. But it certainly doesn't help in his recruitment.

Like I said, I don't know the situation or the kid. Just trying to get a grasp. Seems strange a coach that "knows" the kid would cut him without a good reason. Guess we'll just have to wait and see. I hope things work out for him.

    Good luck to AJ

Great kid, great family.... we will be hearing some great things from AJ regardless of where he is playing ball. AJ, just let this be a minor setback in your love and passion for the game of baseball.

Yes you are correct on all of that O but the O's that I am refering to is the On Deck O's summer baseball team. I think that is where the rub is that he was practicing with his summer team and not high school team.
