It would be greatly appreciated if I could get some suggestions for quality pitching coaches. I am moving to Huntersville soon - and have a 14 year old pitcher.

I know nothing about the area as it regards pitching instruction - so any suggestions would be of great value and very much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Mooresville area (10-12 miles north via I-77) ...

DeWayne Rosenbaum & Larry Woodall are both former pitchers in college and professional baseball. They run Upper Deck in Mooresville.

Charlotte area (15 miles south via I-77) ...

Gary Hill, MLBPA, pitched for the Atlanta Braves .. he's associated with On Deck BSDA down in Pineville.

All of these three guys are very good at teaching the fundamentals and have "quick eyes". They can pick up on minor things quickly and explain things well to young pitchers. You can't go wrong with any of them.

There are a few more very good instructors down in Charlotte (from reputation). Perhaps someone else could chime in.

Added later: Dick Cooke, Head Coach at Davidson College also provides pitching instruction and has an excellent camp for pitchers. He's about 5 miles away from Huntersville.

i'm not sure how to reach him anymore, but from personal experiences, i don't think you could do much better than former yankees pitcher jeff johnson out of charlotte. he used to work at extra innings so you may be able to give them a call.

I've heard he is still in the area and giving some private lessons. He is another excellent instructor.
