Knowing how much Mike Shildt values his privacy, I'm certain that he's very appreciative of a reference to the personal finances of scouts on a public message board. I consider your reference way out of line.

What is worth mentioning here is that no one has done more to raise the level of scholastic baseball in the Charlotte area the last five years than Mike Shildt and the people who have worked with him.

Rightly or wrongly, some people remain involved in the sport out of a genuine love of the game. Mike Shildt is one of them.

    On the contrary!

I agree 100% in regards to your comments on Mike's contributions to Baseball here in Charlotte! Again I wish him well in his new endeavor.....scouting is/can be very lucrative!

I agree with Prepster -- let's get Mike to give us an interview. I understand that his position with the Cardinals (if he accepts it) will involve some instructional responsibilities as well as scouting responsibilities. As those who know him well know, teaching hitting and inspiring young people is what Mike does best, and I hope the Cardinals will take advantage.

I also agree with NC -- Mike will be at the helm of a D1 baseball program within the next 5 years, and whatever AD gives him that opportunity will certainly be glad he OR SHE (hint, hint) did!
