Baseball America has released its top 100 prospects and signings. They also provide a brief description of some of the top recruiting classes. Looks like UNC and the ACC did well.

he is very very good. one of the top hitters and defensive players i've ever played against. i am somewhat suprised there is only one in the top 100. NC usually is represented pretty well in this list, right?

You have to look at these lists and remember they are nothing more than someones opinion. I would value the opinion of some of the guys on this board over some of these WWBA 'experts'. It is literally impossible to see all of these high school players enough to form a top 100 list or even a top 1000 list. I noticed the MVP of the WWBA Championships [ Taylor Harbin ] didn't even make the list. Go figure!

No one should ever take the rankings too seriously. That goes for those who are on them as well as those who are not.

That's not to suggest that there aren't some very fine players who get listed. Inevitably, however, there are some equally fine players who aren't.

As a player, you should focus on being the best baseball player (and person) you can be...and leave the rankings for others to care about.

Overwhelmingly, the people who make recruiting and scouting decisions in baseball go with what they see, rather than what they read.
