    Hopefully, June 15th

The NCSCA has set June 15th as the release date. All of the All-District and All-State paperwork is supposed to be turned in by the weekend of the Softball finals. If all the committees were able to meet their deadline, the list should come out as planned on the 15th. As always, please understand that it is a very time consuming process and all of the coaches are trying to finish their end of year work at their respective schools. That being said, start looking on or around the 15th.

    Thank you,

    Eddie "Pop" Rivers
    Chairman of the Board, NCSCA

I don't know, but I did hear that a certain head coach chose to get even with probably the best ss in north Carolina by not nominating her for anything other than all conference...of course, this kid will go on to college without those awards, but this guy is really showing everyone what he's really made of....but then, most of us who watch and listen, know what he's made of......

These type of things make me very, very sad and it is a clear call that other coaches should be able to nominate players from other teams that they know are more than worthy.

Yep that sounds like our coach only looking out for his kid.

Daddy ball, uncle ball, or immature coaching ball... it doesn't really matter what you call it. The fact that a coach chose "to get even with a player" is unforgivable and speaks horribly to their character. Even worse, it makes me ask: If a coach feels the need to "get even with a player" by not nominating them for an award that they are deserving of, what else is that coach capable of?

While not all coaches will go to the extreme that my daughter and the players on her team have faced, let me point out that my daughter is just recovering from knee & leg surgery number 1, has an MRI for her wrist that may need surgery before she undergoes knee & leg surgery on the other knee.... while she is in PT for a long, long time for her shoulder. This coach, too, believes that nominations for awards are a great way to 'get even with' players.

Coaches like the one Cheese mentioned need to get a reality check QUICK. They are supposed to be role models to these young ladies; they are one of the people these young ladies look to while developing character. If they do not understand that an adult should never, ever look to 'get even' with a player then they have no business coaching. Period.

What could a HS player do to an adult HS coach to make that coach feel like "getting even with her"?

But even as I ask that I'm aware of one instance where a player was allegedly told she wasn't needed on the team starting a new season if she couldn't pitch. She was recovering from shoulder issues.

But that is quite a bit different than "getting even"!

I think coaches (I'm one of those), and parents (I'm one of those), need to understand that the most important thing most of the kids will be left with when it's all said and done is memories. They can be good memories. Sometimes we fail (I'm one of those, too) to put the person first.
