What's going on w/ HS tryouts?

Anything more than 8 attending workouts in the offseason is illegal. Right???

 

No that is not illegal if they are going to conditioning workouts. You can have as many as you want going to those workouts. You can only have 8 players when you are doing skills.

 

Workouts

Yes it is for skill work days. We had lots of conditioning days (running, plyometrics, weightlifting, etc.)

For skill days, we had signups for eight players on any given day.

Good catch, by the way...

 

HS Turn out

This year at Ledford our numbers are down slightly. Cutting it close to having enough to fill JV... do have enough now. But our quality, effort and talent are way up. Not to mention upper class leadership is much improved. On the down side tryouts and decisions on who is JV and who is varsity are some of the toughest that I can remember. Our freshmen are really pushing those older girls and making them step up or get out of the way which is what has happened in some cases. Love kids that are eager to learn and support each other. Have some leaders in the upper class that helps alot. I love our team!

John, I would like to welcome you to TBR. Sorry your first response went negative. Now for the positive.
I am personally looking forward to your future accomplishments. There is a great deal of talent growing in your backyard and I think you will do a wonderful job in developing it. There are several travel teams local to the Cleveland community and they will certianly help your future.

No worries! I don't have time to worry about negative stuff. Plus, he brought up a good point that some in this game don't follow. It's nice to know!

PROPS TO THE COACHES

I know there are alot of great HS coaches out there that work very hard to help their girls succeed and there are many ways to define success. The attitudes exemplified above by SoftballJunkie and ClevelandHS above are why a lot of girls fall in love with the game and what makes them special. Props to you guys and the other great coaches out there!
