anyone else had run ins with the Char Meck Rec Softball board of directors...Larry Brown the president in particular from South Park.

not sure I've ever seen a rec league that is more concerned about adults than the kids...pretty pathetic

Absolutely, that guy is a tyrant. From what I understand he was voted out last year due to his arrogance, but apparently he hung on one last season. The sooner Larry is gone, the better for the league as a whole.

the league is very good at some things like organization, but pretty poor at keeping volunteers. I sat in a coaches meeting where many of them did not want to return because of all the guidelines the league puts on everyone

why pay $190 for a season of 12 games, when you can play some tournament ball and get far more for your money and not all the political games they play Char Meck. Watch out whenever a "board of directros" exists. Daddy Ball rules.

This guy has been around for a while and is very arrogant. He is a control freak!!!!I believe it should be ran by members that have no kids involved and pay each person 1000 dollars to run the league. They bring in more than enough to cover these fees.

    $1000.00

WOW...... think working with just 11 girls on a TB team for free is a challenge. I would not touch a S Charlotte Rec league for $10,000.00. ......
1000+ parents/step-parents and 4000+ grandparents.... no way. No wonder the guy may have to be a control freak.

    Fun?

The thing is, this league is supposed to be about the girls and having fun. But sometimes that chip on the board's shoulder gets priority over the girls.

Lot of first time posters logging on to pile on this guy so I will defend him and the Char Meck board.

I am not affiliated with Char Meck nor have I ever been affiliated with Char Meck. However, my dealings with the people involved have been extremely pro - player. The association is one of the most respected in the state of North Carolina.

For all of the naysayers, how about volunteer some time and try to govern a league with 9 different associations, 9 different commissioners 75+ teams, 225 coaches, 825+ players and 1500+ parents. Now, you get paid nothing for doing it but you are the first person that receives the complaints. You never hear compliments - only complaints.

Tell the board thanks for trying to create a great environment so daughters have a place to learn the game of softball. Stop tearing down people that are trying to enhance the youth recreation experience for your children.

maybe if "they" were interested in enhancing the experience, the thread never would of been started. I am a pretty fair judge of athletic orgs, been around a long time. This one is shady based on my time volunteering under them.

you sure do have some exact #s nailed down to never have dealt with them LMAO
