FAN OF THE GAME ????

    A comment at a recent ballgame got me thinking of what it means to be a fan of baseball. After a couple of inside pitches to a batter a "fan" of the opposing team said "If he don't step back on the next one put it in his earhole. The mother of the batter was sitting next to me and she got a little upset hearing that. Thought about saying something back but that would just give an asinine comment some weight. I just like to see a good ballgame. Sure I want to see the team I am pulling for win but I would never say something like that even if my team is not playing well.

    Comments like that are as old as the game itself. Batters crowd the plate. Pitchers throw inside. Spectators shout out all kinds of things in the process. That's baseball!
