Can I ask why this policy is in effect? It seems this forum could use the additional activity of new threads and it would seem that it is harder to search for teams or opportunities that are buried deep in 20 pages of a thread.

quite simple, if they were all in seperate threads, they would drop off from inactivity. putting them in the same thread means constant activity in that thread and it stays active. i'm certainly not going to stick eighty or so threads for tryouts.

cmmguy has a point about the tryout thread getting a bit large. I think what we need to do is to cull the tryout thread about every thirty days or so this way it stays fresh, and people will learn not to post any tryout dates prior to 30 days of the date.Or they will be gone before the tryout happens and any posted in the wrong area will be deleted
    What do you think?

That sounds like a workable idea. Maybe have tryout threads listed by month; like October tryouts, November tryouts, etc.

Then if people don't put their tryouts under the proper thread, delete, delete, delete. Period.

Or seperate the tryouts by age group.

    How hard is it

Click on tryout thread, click on first unread, or last page. Its not that hard and the board doesn't get cluttered.

    Idea

Its not that hard to hit the LAST tab to get to the newer post. There is a lot of good info and people can use it to find different organizations and contact them even if tryout post are old.I don't know if I would want my kid playing for a coach that can't read and follow directions on where to make a simple post.If anything put the newer post under 1,2,3 reverse the way it is now instead of me making a post today and it going to page 6 it should go to page 1.I do think the old post for tryouts are important and do need to stay for a couple months.
