    I guess I got very lucky because the volunteers were always helpful to me (one even gave shortcut directions to the park that cut out about 15 minutes of driving through Florence...Thanks!)

    Regarding the wiffle ball incident...why were girls warming up near cars? There was plenty of room at the facility that the girls shouldn't have been near cars. I seriously doubt that the girls shattered a windshield and shouldn't have been blamed for that, but they still should have not been near cars.

    It was not that bad.

    Folks I have been going to Florence twice a year at least for more years then I care to admit. Two things I can tell you about Florence i the summer is;
    One, that it WILL Rain and
    Two, It WILL be hot and humid.
    With the multiple rain delays, some real long. Ken was able to keep games at there advertised length. I commend him for that. Yes the gate is high but according to who you talk to it gets blamed on the TD or Park and rec. I found the staff, paid or otherwise to be helpful and in good spirits during the weekend. There were a ton of colleges represented and some great games played. All in all a good weekend for our teams.
    I hope this negativity has run its course on here.
    It was not perfect but then I doubt anything is. could it be better sure but it could have also been a hell of a lot worse.

    One Comment !!!

    I do think that they ought to move it outside the sea breeze zone, that is why you get so many thunderstorms, it is very disappointing to go to the field and watch it rain. Hey if Ken wants to keep it in S.C. move it to Spartanburg / Greenville are less thunderstorm activity !!

    ....I had a ball in Florence over the years, and yeas it rained. As for moving the tourney to Spartanburg/Greenville SC, well its gonna rain thaere too. And it has this Ozone pocket that for some reason the weathermen like to point out.

    The bottom line on all of this bitching is that folks are paying good hard earned money and they aren't happy with the product that their paying for. I don't blame anybody for stepping up and speaking their peace....and if the TDs don't like it or they stand behind the "I work hard for this or that" gig, then quit and let somebody else step up and do a better job or fall on their face and get the same ridicule as those who are giving their time now.

    You couldn't pay me enough to be an Organizer/TD etc.

    Thanks to some folks, ie Rick, who has the kids back but for some of the rest of how things pan out, well, I'll just say that I understand how folks can get a bug up the behind.

    Yet my DD's teams have had only 3 or 4 games dropped due to rain in all the years we've been playing tournaments in this area (one in each of two tournaments this year). And the parks around here certainly don't require $9/day gate fees.

    And... I've not once seen any Ozone here. :supergrin:

The girls laughed about it and did not even bother to try and find the owner and tell them what they had done just kept hitting softballs like nothing had happened, yes it was an accident but not letting anyone know that was just wrong! I guess there coach, who was right there at the time, is not teaching them true values! Can't remember the name of the team but they were wearing black uniforms with purple and gold lettering on them.

    I concur with you, but the guy in the red jeep (I can understand he was ticked off) was blaming the wrong team for the incident. Again, he was really ticked off and in the heat of the moment took his anger out on the wrong team. This wrong team that got blamed was indeed hitting wiffle balls and they did move.
