National News, NJCAA Division 1 Pitcher of the week March 24, 2010

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The NJCAA Softball Players of the week have been named and they include Marisa Coats of Seward County Community College (Kan.), Chelsey Rottinghaus of Labette Community College (Kan.) and Alyssa Collins from Harper College (Ill.). The Pitchers of the Week are Emma Stevenson of Chipola College (Fla.), Amanda Lambrecht of Kirkwood Community College (Iowa), and Melissa Kanouse of Sussex County Community College (N.J.).

    Stevenson is the Division 1 Pitcher of the Week as she and Chipola College gained three more wins this week. On March 15, in a 9-1 win over Middle Georgia College, Stevenson gave up one run on three hits with two walks and seven strikeouts through seven innings. On March 17, in a 3-1 win over Gulf Coast CC (Fla.), the 5'3" freshman, again, gave up just one run on five hits with two walks and eight strikeouts through seven innings of work. On March 20, against Pensacola JC (Fla.), Stevenson threw seven innings giving up one unearned run on five hits with two walks and eight strikeouts. In the week, she threw 21 innings giving up 13 hits, three runs, five walks, and had 23 strikeouts. Stevenson currently holds a .67 ERA

    yea, but....

    Nobody remembers to go there....let her have her moment.....

    National Player of the Week is pretty impressive. I could not be more proud of her. Congrats to one proud mom and dad!

    Maybe, but hardly anyone looks there. Players get more exposure here and I don't have a problem with seeing our girls no matter what level get kudos for hard work.

    Keep mowing them down little Emma. Talk about a kid with a big heart and who hate's to lose. This young lady gave me everything she had every time she stepped on the field. I was very lucky to have had the chance to coach her. keep working hard Emma, you know that we are behind you all the way. Good luck the rest of the year and you know that we love you.
