A good friend of mine is a very well-respected up and coming coach at Louisburg College. He has asked me to remind all of ya'll about Louisburg and what it has to offer.

    On Nov. 14th at 11am,
"Louisburg College will be hosting a baseball recruit day for all unsigned 2010 high school graduates interested in playing baseball at the collegiate level.

    "Pro-style" Workout will include:
    60 Yard Sprint
    Infield: Throws
    Outfield: Throws
    Catchers: Pop Time
    Pitchers: 20 Pitch Bullpen
    On-Field Batting Practice
    Campus Tour
    Meet the Coaches
    Question / Answer Session

If you are interested in attending, please contact Assistant Coach Blake Herring via email at [email protected]."

This event is FREE for all prospects.

A lot of times I have heard folks complain about the cost to go to Louisburg. Don't forget that LC is the only in-state Residential Junior College. All LC players live together in a dorm in their own room with a Residential Advisor keeping a look-out. That knocks out gas, rent, meals, BOOKS, etc... Everything is included at LC and you can't say that about any other Junior College in the state.

Louisburg is traditionally one of the top JUCO programs in the state and even known nationwide. I highly encourage any uncommitted 2010 prospect to attend the workout on Saturday.

    In addition, there is a...
Hitting Camp: Saturday and Sunday, November 21-22nd, 2009

"The Louisburg College Hurricanes will be hosting a two-day hitting camp November 21-22, 2009. The Hitting Camp is designed for area youth ages 8 to 18 who wish to improve their hitting fundamentals. Drills and instruction will be given to campers by Louisburg College coaches and players. Individual attention is important in developing good fundamentals and this camp will offer a low player to coach ratio. Campers will develop a better approach and understanding to the mental aspects of hitting — and have a great time in the process!"

There is a camp brochure found on the Louisburg College baseball website (link above).

    Thanks,
    JM

Quick note about Asst. Coach Herring,

I had the opportunity to play with Blake in college and knew after our first practice together that he would be a great coach one day. He get's it. He knows baseball in and out and knows how to teach it without making it a "stressful" situation. He's demanding but he is very easy to get along with and very well respected by his friends, former coaches, and all that have come into contact with him. He is an eastern NC guy who played at Greene Central HS and for the Snow Hill Legion program. Down to earth and a definite country boy. If any of you have the opportunity to play at Louisburg College, I highly reccommend you take the chance. And if any of you ever get the chance to meet Coach Herring, take it. You will feel like you've known him forever and his personality will rub off on you instantly.
