From Yahoo MLB reporter / blogger, Kevin Kaduk, on the embrace by Joba Chamberlain and his dad after the Yankees won last night.

"But then you see this very simple and very real scene of a 24-year-old pitcher sharing the hug of a lifetime with his dad and you remember that those father-son relationships — one of the only things that really matter — are at the very heart of this great game that we love."

    AMEN!

So very true. It's a shared relationship deepened by history. I bet at that time the thoughts by each were of the times spent traveling all over as a youngster playing baseball games

Didn't I hear somewhere that Joba's mom was arrested in a drug bust in Lincoln, NE? Not to take away light from that moment that father-son shared, but you know that hug meant a lot... not just baseball.

    Yes

Joba and his sister were mostly raised by their dad, who by the way is confined to a scooter as a result of childhood polio, as a single parent. His dad, Harlan, worked at a prison to provide for his kids. They have a very close relationship. Sounds like the next great baseball movie.
