    We tried and love it!!

Have not been on in a while and was looking at older post, and saw this. My DD had 3 offers from D2 and 2 from D3 schools. Most were very good offers as she had good academic scores (very important ladies!). But after looking at the balance still left to pay after these offers, we still could not afford to send her at this time due to the current state of "our" economy.
She enrolled at our local community and found they had a softball team. She now is starting her second year, playing very competitive ball and
having a great time. She works part time and pays for her own tution. When she graduates next year, she will have an associates degree and can transfer to a four year school to complete her degree. The beauty part is she will owe nothing. She may have to get a few loans to complete her four year, but they will be a lot easier to pay off than a full four years of loans. Bottom line ladies, if money is tight and you still want a good education and play competitive softball, look at a community college in your area.

This is what Clark Howard, the money guru, recommends on his radio show also. It makes very good sense. I believe at Wake Tech in Raleigh it costs about $1500. You learn the same thing you would at a university at less than half the cost.

There are many community colleges that offer softball. Wake Technical Community College is starting their softball program this fall under Coach Nicole Dobbins. From the names I've seen on the tryout list the program is going to be very competitive from the start. This is a great opportunity so get in touch with her now.
