As the end of the high school approaches and summer is on the horizon, have you or your daughter thought about what you are going to do for college exposure this summer? Rising freshman to rising Seniors need to start thinking. The summer is the best time and you need to have a plan. You can not just rely on a travel team getting you the individual exposure you need to be identified by college coaches. Players have to take control of their destiny. It is never too early and never too late.

That is what the Southern Star All-Star Showcases are about. Individual players taking control of their future. This August we have three events scheduled. You can play in one or all three depending on your choices for where you might want to go to school.

August 15-16 in Boynton Beach, FL
August 22-23 in Peachtree City, GA
August 29-30 in Las Vegas, NV

If you play another fall sport, you can request to be on a Sunday only team. There is no reason not to play.

Don't be fooled into thinking that if you are a good player, they will find you. All players, no matter how good they are have to put themselves out there to be seen. We help guide you through the recruiting, but we are NOT a recruiting service.

Applications are being taken now and the deadline to enter is July 1.

This information was sent to most high school coaches in your area. You can go to the web site or request it from your coach.

Many high school girls from this area have already participated in our past events and enjoyed the attention they have gotten by virtue of playing in the Southern Star. Now you can too.

    Also a good idea

I also highly recommend you looking at the event being hosted by the Lady Blues in 2 weeks also.

As the head of the Angels organization, I have recommended it to all of my 18u and 16u players.

Attending these individual events says a lot about your desire to a college coach and gives YOU a chance to shine.

Hopefully Coach Threatt will see this thread and re-post the information under this.

If you want the chance to play in college, you HAVE TO GO THE EXTRA MILE!

    Thanks

Ty, thank you for mentioning the Lady Blues event, we have some very good talent coming and the best coaching turnout in a few years! We could use some 2010 and 2009 unsigned as I am getting e-mails from college coaches asking about unsigned players. Send those Ga girls my way!
As you know, the girls will be tested, participate in drills, and actually play three innings in front of all the coaches. All events will be on the field in front of the coaches and not in hitting cages, side mounds, etc. Each player will introduce themselves to the coaches and perform as an individual like an actor on stage!
Good luck this summer and we will see you as we travel the circuit! Ty, you are one of the good ones that truly understands your role and provides enormous energy and effort for your kids and others!

** We are reducing the cost to $150 to entice a few more kids and will rebate $45.00 to each kid that has already paid. We will have vendors available to meet your needs and some great food prepared by "BIG BIRD"! Can you beat that? Come out and watch a "First" in North Carolina!:hippy:

Where can I go to get more information on this event being held by the Lady Blues. How do I get signed up, and where do I get the sign up form or application?

    Thanks.

    Put yourself out there

    Rodney,

I passed your information on to all I knew. We have several Nat. Qual. events that weekend along with just about every high school graduation in South GA. Hope it goes well. I would love to come myself, but mine is crossing the stage that weekend too.

Since I am responsible for gathering the information on players for the new college program starting down here, would you please send me a copy of the results.

As it seems only a few people like us know, these individual events are outstanding opportunities for girls and so many over look them or their travel coach tells them "they are a waste of time". Attending an individual event says so much about your desire and gives a player the opportunity to put herself out there to be seen without concern about her teammates and politics or anything else. There are so few really great travel teams out there and so many really good girls!

College coaches are looking for players, not whole teams!

The boys figured this out years ago. They have been holding individual showcases, Top 100 showcases and such for years. It is just taking the girls game a while to catch on.

There is a freshman catcher at App St who attended some top showcases with her travel team, but every time it was her time to catch, they got rained out. So she never got seen. She came to my event at Georgia Southern and there were no excuses. She WAS the catcher and was seen. App St saw her, she visited a week later and was signed later that spring. If she had just relied on travel ball, she would not be in D1.

Girls have got to go all out from the summer after their freshman year until they get signed.

    So True

You said it all! We really have trouble getting the NC travel teams to send girls to our event. We try to attend local events if we are not at a qualifier or Boulder to help out the teams running them as we know it takes money to get college exposure. To bad all teams can not work together to help the girls no matter the team affiliation. See you soon! :SCA+HL:
