DD's HS team was at a HS tournament this last weekend. We were waiting for the game in front of us to finish so that we could take the field. Our head coach, asst coach and myself are standing there watching the game. Bottom of 8th inning, score tied, bases loaded and 1 out.

Batter hits a fly ball to left field. Runner on third goes back to tag up but still left way too early. Left fielder catches ball. Runner on 3rd base who left early runs home, the fielder throws the ball toward home plate, but it arrives after the runner has crossed the plate. The defensive team all drop their gloves and line-up to shake the other team's hands. We are looking at each other saying, "she left early". The teams gathered their gear and left the fields. When the umpires came off the field, they walked by us and I couldn't resist to ask, "Hey blue, did the runner on 3rd base legally tag-up?". He looked at me and said "Nope. I was wondering if anyone else saw it too."

A parent for the losing team heard us ask the ump and of course, the parent is now in utter disbelief.

Well, it worked out for us, we finally got to get on the field and start our game.
