    lets try this one....

HS team involved playing a conference rival. Previous year our starting pitcher was hit once and the only player of color on our team hit twice at their place in first conference match... coincidence? Second match at our place same girl of color is hit as is our pitcher again... coincidence? First rematch the next year at our place with same opposing pitcher the girl of color isnt playing but our pitcher is hit at first at bat. Second AB she is thrown inside and gets out of the way.. then told to move to the outside edge of the box away from the plate.. next pitch hits her!

    What would you have done?

ps: oh no other kids on our team were hit in any of the three contests.

Based on your desciption and focus on 6-7 pitches over 3 games..., I would assume you lost the games...

Whether or not, the players in question were " thrown at", you may never know... and the ump is the only one who can take action to stop it, if they decide it is intentional....

I would not let it become the focus of the game... Sooner or later, they ( the other team ) is gonna have to pitch to someone..... Don't focus on the negative, focus the next batter on the rbi opportunity at hand...

Drive the ball in the gap, and score a run..

I am not sure what I said which led you to believe we lost all three games... the "focus" of these games, in retrospect, was in the context of this thread. As I recall the HS won two of the three.

"score a run".. is all well and good and I respect your opinion.

HS is 1A which means your 1 or your 3 or your 4 hole hitter may be as good as any in 3A or 4A.. but your 6 or your 7 or 8 hole hitter probably only has rec ball experience and none since she was 12.. this is just a fact of life. In this case the pitcher was one of the top two in the conference and the cleanup hitter and really the most feared power hitter in conference... if she takes a seat because of a deep bruise or a bone chip in her elbow... well anyone can fill in the blank.

    I know what you mean......
and hopefully the kids that got hit, are ok... and will understand
that they need to be aware of how they might get pitched too, in certian situations.. happens allot at the next level...

They need protection in the line up....
Manny always protected Papi.... look how Ortiz struggled with Manny gone...

The reason I thought you might have lost the games, was that winning cures allot of issues, and losing sometimes lets them hang around.

    Best of luck this spring!

the idea is fresh because in the myriad of games I have watched over the years it was the most open, notorious and hostile attempt I have ever witnessed to hit a batter and intimidate... and it occurred over the span of one whole calender year.

Are you saying that intentionally hitting a batter(not in the strike zone) is part of the game?

not necessarily, that's my sign to the coach who is stealing my pitches and telling his or hers batters....

I would never encourage or allow one of my pitchers to throw at a girls head. Coming from a baseball background there are certain things that are not tolerated (ex. stealing signals) but things seem a little different in softball so I am still developing my "softball etiquitte". That is why I probably ask some questions you folks think are pretty silly. But back to the subject, you never throw at someones head, would I have players throw at other players sadley yes because it was and is a part of baseball. I will come inside and come hard. Anything between the batters boxes belongs to me and my pitcher if you get in that I did not hit you, you got hit.
