I want to thank everyone for the support we are receiving. It really speaks volumes of the good souls on this board. We received a very nice bat and first base mitt from a board member, and I almost laughed out loud when one of my returning girls saw the bat and asked why it was not dented like our other one....

    thank you all so much

I will let the girls know, it really was a touching moment, because these girls do not know what it is like to have new equipment and such. You would have thought they sent the girls a thousand dollars each. On a really bright note, I just found out that we are getting cloth this season, I fought tooth and nail for it, which puts us six years out in the rotation again, but a win is a win for these girls. With the help of the members of this board, and our new uniforms, we may just look like something this year. If anyone knows the past years of Monroe softball, they know this...that these girls have fun just being out there, we may lose by twenty every game, but I swear sometimes you would think they won. And we have to look at the season that way, because baby steps lead to bigger steps...I want to go on the record and say that I am honored to get the challenge of turning around this program, I assisted last year and set some ground work, but the rebuilding starts soon.....

...Hey John, I'll get right on it.
I'll beat the bushes around here and hopefully the folks will contribute.
I'll be in Greensboro around Christmas so maybe that will help some in the connection. I'll be at the beach via Greenville NC over thanksgiving.
I'll see if those folks have few items to send to a great cause.
Check your PM for my #, or call CD and we'll hook up brother. Marlin.

My DD's school Wilmington Christian Academy this year completely dropped softball for MS and HS. What they call a permanant decision. They sited lack of player interest and the difficulty in finding schools to schedule. Mostly caused by their continued commitment to the NCCSA which is a miniscule and dwindling association. The interesting thing is that they had a full varsity squad last season and 20 girls that tried out for MS as well. Lack of interest? Hmmmm....on who's part I must ask. A school limiting the options of our young female athletes because it's "too hard to find schools to schedule" just pi$$es me off. How does this apply to the intentions of Title IX?

If this is a private school we're talking about I believe you get what you pay for. I don't believe Title IX applies in private school cases.
