    Coaches,
What a great year it's been! We are already looking forwad to next summer.
We sincerely appreciate your attendance in our past Cardinals tournaments. We will again be hosting the "Carolina Cardinals Late Summer Showcase" in Rock Hill, SC Aug. 14-16, 2009.
Also, this year, we are offering another opportunity to showcase your kids in a different format. With the rising cost of travel, most of us can't afford the trip to one of the Colorado tournaments, the weekend of July 4th. The innaugural "Carolina Cardinals East Coast Fireworks" will be held in Raleigh, NC at the Walnut Creek Complex, July 3-5, 2009. We are adding to our age groups, by offering 14U and 23U brackets. (23U has been requested and we are going to give it a try) In the new format we will play a 4GG pool play into single elimination.
I have already received committments from some very competitive teams for both tournaments. Please make plans to attend both these tournaments as well as the other tournaments hosted by the Carolina Cardinal's organization.
I have entry forms available online at www.ncasafastpitch.com on the message board.
FYI, The Late Summer Showcase filled up pretty quickly last year so I would make plans to enter as early as possible. Thanks and have great fall season.

I have a request. Since the Cardinals organization is one of the most respected organizations I believe you could help eliminate time-limit games.

Since there is no timekeeping when timeouts are called the idea of timed games doesn't make much sense. And dropdead time limits absolutely have no place--at least let them finish their at bat even if they can't finish the inning.

Even a 5-inning game would be better than a time limited game. Or 4 outs or 2 outs during the last inning. Anything but time limits and timeouts with no clock.

I know a lot of people think nowadays that the game is for being seen so they can get money for education. That may be well and good, but the game standards should be held to a high level also.

Surely, someone can think of a better way to get the games in AND keep the rules of the game safe.

    Excitment

What about starting each inning off with a runnner at second base in each inning after the third inn, to create a situational approach to the game, thus making for more excitment and a challenge to the defense as well as the offense. I think that college coaches would prefer to see kids put in a challenging situtation over a clean base situtation any day of the week. Some times the fielders never have to play with runners in scoring position the whole game, so how many chances will any player get during the game to showcase their skills on those plays if those situtations never exist. I would also try to make it possible that the line-up turn over three times, so as everyone could at least get two AB ea with subs getting at least one. This may be a bit more of a challenge timewise though, maybe let every one hit, a continuious line-up so to speak, after all it is about getting the girls expouser isn't it.

    I agree with that 100%!!!!

Give the game back to the girls!

Imagine the outrage if baseball attempted to shortchange their game!

Or if the college games were put on a timed game with no timeouts!

    Actually...

at the World Wood Bat Championships (and many other showcase tournaments), there are time limits but you do finish the inning. Also, in pool play, you can have a game end in a tie... each team gets 1/2 a win. Runs allowed and runs scored become premium as that is what is used to break ties to get into championship rounds.
