    Tis the season.....

The Super Fusion Fall Classic tournament has always been an excellent showcase for the teams to display their talent.....
It is well supported by the travel teams, as well as all coaches that can attend.

Everyone gets all hyped up about which coaches are attending.
The new NCAA recruiting schedule that was instituted last year, prevents
Div I coaches from attending and evaluating potential recruits from Sept 1st until Oct 10th.

D2 , D3, NAIA, and JUCO are not effected by this rule.

This is also the time when most college teams participate in their non-traditional season. During the non traditional season, the student athlete is not allowed to miss any class time for practice or games.. which is why we are playing on the weekends. ( notice the other posts about college teams playing at various venues) That's why attendance during these time frames can suffer.

Robert does a good job of promoting our sport and hosting the event, but there are allot of other factors that need to be considered, as far as attendance by coaches. Whoever is there, play well.

If you are an unsigned 2009, these might be the coaches you need to be in front of. Most of the D1's are hosting their potentail 2009 signees on official visits during this time....

Here is an e-mail I sent to Robert yesterday, and his response.

    Robert
There is some talk about their not being any college coaches showing up due to dead period. I know (as should any TB coach worth his salt) that it is a DI dead period Give me an idea of how many you know will attend so I can put a stop to what is starting.
    Ray

As you said Ray all travel ball coaches should know the NCAA rules on evaluation and recruiting. It is a No Evaluation period right now for NCAA DI schools. It was the same for last year and was the same for the Fall Southern Exposure we were all playing in as well. It doesn't mean that they will not show up, we had 4 show up last year and 2 signed in at the tent. This has nothing to do with DII's and DIII's. In the past we've always had at least 12 if not more show up for the tournament. I invite the college coaches, but as you know the responsibility falls on the teams and especially the players to do the inviting and let the coaches know where they are playing. I know you've heard that from Ken Bailey before and Ray Chandler will tell you the same thing. College coaches don't typically confirm with me, but some will tell me if they're not coming and request a coaches booklet. I know my players are doing there part because they copy me on all their emails to coaches. If the other teams players are doing that then coaches will show up. I heard the same mess last year!

    Robert Powell

    I hope this explains it.
Man this thread took a wrong turn lol

    READ Slowly !!

The thread at no point says that no college coaches will show up !! I went back and re-read every post...and I simply stated it's a dead period, never said it was dead period for all coaches...go back and re-read the post !!!

    Coaches

Folks may be surprised at the coaches who will be in attendance. I am sure some will not sign in. Check out the number of college teams who are playing just down the road at Winthrop this weekend. Seems like a very good oppurtunity for coaches to drop by to watch a couple of games, especially if one of their recruits are playing.
