    Since we all are at a ball field somewhere more than we are at home lets here some of the crazy, stupid, and funny things you have seen at a ball tournament.

    One of mine is when we played 10u for the first year, my dd was pitching and we had a little girl that was catching, my dd thru a low pitch that went under the catchers glove and she turned around on her knees and crawled thru the umps legs to get to it to try and throw the girl out at second. The ump got so tickled that he had to stop the game and walk off to laugh.

    had a girl get a fly ball stuck in the webbing on her glove, couldnt get it out, so she threw the whole glove to the shortstop, who caught it but didnt know what to do with it....

    Had a fly ball hit between LF and CF. Both went after the ball with the LF getting to it first only to have the ball bounce out of her glove right into the glove of the CF for the out.

    She did what I told her!

    Years ago while coaching at Wilders Grove I was working with a beginner team. One of the girls would hold her arms out like an airplane while running to catch a fly ball. I told her to pump her arms while she was running to the ball and then throw her glove up and catch it. That's what she did--literally threw her glove up in the air towards the ball. At first, I thought she was being a smarty but after talking to her I realized she thought that's what I meant. I'm not going to mention her name, but her initials are Jessica May. She still gets a kick out of that story.

    when we started out on the rec field we once won a game 16-0 and on the way through the handshake one of the girls turned to me and asked: "did we win?" About two years later we were playing another game and the same girl was playing first base. She fielded a tough chance hard hit grounder and immediately threw it back to the pitcher without touching first. The pitcher yelled at her to get on the bag and she threw it back to complete the 3-1-3 put out!

    my bestest story

    was sitting in a stairwell at one of the fine motels we called home at a tournament many years ago
    Talking to one of my players about the recruiting process
    She was a rising jr at the time and was being recruited by Wingate U
    I told her that I thought Wingate was a very conservative school with the nickname of Jesse Helms U and that I was unsure that she would fit in there
    She told me np she would fit in quite well because she recycled
    I still shake my head
    Out of the mouths of babes lol
