My kid has a little thing going on, I dont get. let me set up what I got. I dont know any one can help that much without seeing her, but I was kinda thinking if a longtime coach has seen this often enough, they might have an idea of where the problem lies.

So she is a second year 14 (93). She is RH, she went half and half lh/rh last season, committing to the left soley this season. The problem lies, in that a few times over the spring and recently, when hitting dimple balls off the machines, she has been getting a painful muscle bruise in that area between the thumb, and the forefinger. The last time she went through this, after a week, it was purple and black. so I know she aint just making stuff up. Her grip was taught, knuckles align, but I know she is not comfortable with that and they are not ligned up exactly. However, she has used that grip forever without this happening. In addition I am unsure if she is hurting this while taking swings, or while practicing slaps. but from what I can tell, its from swings. it went away for some time, but then again, we hadnt hit off a machine in a month. but she needs to see the speed to dial in. I have watched her quite a bit, cant figure out.

I would just take her to a good hitting coach, but everyone is off at the regionals, or nationals or preparing their teams and time is running out. She will still hit fine, but it wont be with the authority I like to see that I know she is capable of.

    Any insight would be appreciated.

    Maybe try some turboslots

    These gloves work.

The Turbo Slot pad helps reduce bat vibration and absorbs shock between thumb and forefinger while hitting alot of balls during machine practice.

I will have to check them out.

    Thanks for the replies.

I was thinking maybe she was doing something different on the left side grip than the right and just couldnt place it. a search puts retailers all over the place here, so I will check.

Make sure that if you go to Turbo Slots that you don't push the bat back into the pads. The gloves are intended for the batter to squeeze the thumb toward the forefinger squeezing the pad together and really getting the bat out into the fingers.

Sounds like stone bruises, so batting gloves should help, especially in cold weather. You can also ice them when it happens.

Working with a stress/squeezy ball is good for the hands, wrists, and forearms in general, if you can get them to do it!

Stone bruises, thats the term I was thinking of and had not heard it in a long long time, but that is what it seems like. she always wears batting gloves though. I did ice. the squeezy ball is a good idea. I think at this point she would try anything to be able to keep a better, less painful grip.
