Bama - ASU, the ball was foul, call should have been made by the ump at third that was at it. HATED to see a great game turn on such a call.

    You are correct

Terrible call, even if kids glove touched the ball, it was foul when touched. Bama should have won game.

    2 items of interest

    2 things:

    - the great pitcher "Jelly" Seldon from UCLA; she has all kinds of trouble making simple throws to 1st base. There's actually been a few major league baseball players with this "problem".

    - Ariz State has a player (Katie Cochran) that has been intentionally walked every at-bat in the first 2 games of the college world series.

    great season but..............

imagine winning 70 of 75 games, and not play for the national championship:

The University of Florida Softball team ended a historic season with a 1-0 loss in nine innings to Texas A&M in a second Women’s College World Series semifinal game on Sunday night in Oklahoma City.

Florida finished the season with a 70-5 record on the season and were the first team in NCAA history to record 70 wins in a season. Each of Florida’s losses were by only one run, four of them 1-0 losses, and opponents scored only seven runs against the Gators in losses. In addition to the NCAA record, the team set many single season school records in almost every hitting, pitching and fielding category. Several Gator players also set individual single season and records, including long-standing records for season RBI, season runs scored and career stolen bases and shutouts. The Gators also had a school record five players earn All-America honors.

    Great job

This program was turned around at a record pace. Always pretty good but now great! Coaching staff doing what it takes to win, recruiting well, preparing well, and coaching in game situations.:grouphug:

Why didn't the FL coach bunt in the ninth inning with runners at 1st and 2nd with 0 outs??? I believe the number 3 in the line up was at bat, but who cares? I would take runners at 2nd and 3rd with 1 out in extra innings anytime. Coach didn't bunt and the batter hit into a double play. Next batter pops up for the 3rd out.........game over and FL goes home.

    Any opinions?

Did not see that game. All I can say is maybe coach felt #3 and #4 could drive the ball and get both runs in with on hit. I agree with you, behind 1-0, I am bunting.

    Words out of my mouth.....

That was the second mistake they made that inning....

The runner on first base has to be aware of the potential tag em out, throw em out DP.... Runner has to stop and force the 2nd baseman to make a choice. That's a 14U base running mistake.

1st mistake was not protecting the foul lines in the top of the 9th inning with two outs...
you can't give up a triple with 2 outs down the first base line.
Corners should be stacked on the baselines.
Give up the single in the 3-4 hole or 5-6 hole, but not the extra base hit.

It will be along off season to think about those decisions....
