So I am watching the Arizona/Oklahoma super regional game and it looks like the Arizona pitcher, Taryn (spelling?), is illegal every time. Doesn't the pitcher have to land her front foot within the width of the rubber? When Taryn pitches, she jumps way over to the left before delivering the ball. I can't really see the rubber on the TV but isn't that illegal?

    Yes

It is illegal. I am watching the game as well and she steps out almost every pitch if not all. They did call an illegal pitch on her early in the second game of the series but they have said nothing else of it since. Who knows...

    TIME FOR CHANGES!!

WindMillr, you know me, there are too many pitching rules anyway. The NCAA says they want one thing, but yet leans towards the higher profile programs in the country. We need to examine exactly what constitutes "advantage" vs "disadvantage" and call rules based on this. But you're right, it's nothing until it's called and all of the complaining in the world will ever change that.

    As I said

TOO MANY RULES THAT WHEN TAKEN BY THE LITERAL TERMS, EVERY PITCHER WOULD BE ILLEGAL

    So confused...

In several other posts, we condem coaches and want to take them out to the shed for cheating but some (not all) of the things they do could also be considered 'pushing the envelope'. Cheating is cheating. Teaching/allowing girls to intentionally leave early until they are caught is cheating. Teaching/allowing the pitchers to do something you/they know is illegal until they get caught is also cheating. Where do you draw the line???

    I AGGREE

The OU pitcher also looked like she was pitching illegal. You could see daylight under her foot after it left the rubber. I know an umpire has got to be 100% sure before they make a call like that, but when it is that plain, make the call. Also, and this might should be on another thread, but what is the penalty in NSA or any of the other leagues for playing with an illegal player.
